30 Day Challenge: Day 11

Day 11 - Book from your favorite author?
This one is insanely hard. I have many favorite authors and many favorite books by each author. So I will just name a few.

J.K Rowling- Harry Potter Series. And in the series I would have to say Prisoner of Azkaban and Deathly Hallows are my favorites.

Sherrilyn Kenyon- This is tough, I'll just name the series. Dark Hunter Series and The Chronicles of Nick.

J.R Ward- Black Dagger Brotherhood series (can't really pick a favorite book)

Kristin Hannah- On Mystic Lake, Between Sisters, Firefly Lane (I haven't read all of her books yet)

Cassandra Clare- The Mortal Instruments series, probably The City of Fallen Angels being my favorite and The Infernal Devices.

Gena Showalter- Lords of the Underworld series

Lara Adrian- Midnight Breed series

I seriously have so many, so I'll just stop with this list.

30 Day Challenge: Day 10

Day 10 - Book that changed your life?
Hm, I really feel like this is coming up a lot but it has been with me for like 12 years of my life and I grew up with it. Of course I am talking about Harry Potter. I got the first 3 books for my 11th birthday. It took me awhile to read the first 2. I wasn't that big of a reader then. But by the 3rd one I loved them. It took me only 2 weeks to read book 3, (for a 13 year old who goes to school thats not bad). The first 2 took me 6-9 months each. Ever since that 3rd book though I have been an avid reader. So it changed my life in that I now do things like this for the love of books.

30 Day Challenge: Day 9

Day 9 - Book that makes you sick?
Okay, this question kind of threw me, I don't know. So I will answer with the book that disturbs me. And that, of course, is The Hunger Games. Whats more disturbing than your government making kids kill each other so they can survive. And then watching it on tv and calling it entertainment? Ugh, I guess you can say that makes me sick, the idea of it.

30 Day Challenge: Day 8

Day 8 - Book that scares you?
This question, I don't think I can answer really. I don't read scary books, so theres non specific I can think of. I guess in general I'm just plain scared of scary books. Haha. I know I'm a chicken but I have never been into horror/scary things. So I am gonna just, in a way, skip this one. lol

30 Day Challenge: Day 7

Day 7 - Book that you can quote/recite?
Well, I don't know if theres any book I could completely quote/recite but theres a few that may be close. I feel like this is coming up a lot, but Harry Potter. haha, I guess it is the series I have read the most and its one of my favorites.

Another one, sort of is The Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

30 Day Challenge: Day 6

Day 6-Favorite Young Adult Book?
I have a lot of "favorite" young adult books. Its one of my favorite genres. But I guess my favorite young adult series is The Hunger Games series.

Know Me Better [4]

This Week's Questions are Holiday Related. If you don't celebrate Christmas feel free to modify the questions to apply to the holiday you do celebrate

Red or Green?
Favorite Christmas Carol?
What do you want for Christmas?
Favorite Holiday Treat?
Favorite Holiday Tradition?

Red or Green?
Green is my favorite color! (Along with pink!)

Favorite Christmas Carol?
Hm, good question. I don't really have a favorite.

What do you want for Christmas?
Every time I was asked I said "I don't know, nothing really." I can't think of anything really, except more books, haha, and just to spend a great Christmas with my family!

Favorite Holiday Treat?
Sugar Cookies, Peanut Butter Blossoms. I just love Holiday treats! :)

Favorite Holiday Tradition?
Since I've been with my boyfriend, its pretty much the same every year. Christmas eve we go to my mom/sisters (whoever decides to host that year) around 5pm. We stay there for a few hours, then around 8pm or 9pm we go to his dads just to see them and exchange gifts with them. They don't do their Christmas til morning but they do open some gifts while we're there. Then on Christmas morning/afternoon we go to his moms house and spend the day with his mom and grandparents. I love the family time! :) And usually at his moms, after dinner and opening presents, we play cards. :D

30 Day Challenge: Day 5

Day 5: Book you wish you could live in:
Wow this is a hard question. I'm not really sure. There are a lot of cool books with cool story lines. I mean, I guess Harry Potter was the one series that got me into reading and I just love the story and the characters and I tend to re-read the series a whole lot! Haha So I guess maybe that series.

30 Day Challenge: Day 4

Day 4 - What book makes you cry?

This is hard because I don't think I have ever actually cried while reading a book. I guess I have been close but never actually cried. The two I was closest to crying while reading was:

Book Review: Amy and Roger's Epic Detour

Amy And Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
344 pages
5/5 Stars

Goodreads Description:
Amy Curry thinks her life sucks. Her mom decides to move from California to Connecticut to start anew—just in time for Amy's senior year. Her dad recently died in a car accident. So Amy embarks on a road trip to escape from it all, driving cross-country from the home she's always known toward her new life. Joining Amy on the road trip is Roger, the son of Amy's mother's old friend. Amy hasn’t seen him in years, and she is less than thrilled to be driving across the country with a guy she barely knows. So she's surprised to find that she is developing a crush on him. At the same time, she’s coming to terms with her father’s death and how to put her own life back together after the accident. Told in traditional narrative as well as scraps from the road—diner napkins, motel receipts, postcards—this is the story of one girl's journey to find herself.

Okay, so where to start. I had never heard of this book until a friend of mine had read it and begged me to read it. Haha. And I am so glad she told me about it! I absolutely loved this book! The book starts off with Amy at home in California explaining how her road trip to Connecticut was arranged. This takes place only a few months after her father's accident. Her mother has a new job in Connecticut, her brother is in North Carolina. She has been home in California by herself for a month, and she needs to get to Connecticut. Her mother wants her to bring their car by road trip, but Amy refuses to drive since the accident. So Amy's mother enlists in Roger to drive since he will be living in Pennsylvania with his father for the summer. So thats how it all starts. Roger and Amy then set off on their road trip which was planned out, city by city, stop by stop by Amy's mother but as they start their trip they decide to take a different path, a detour. So starts Amy's path to finding herself. They stop in lots of different and cool places across the US. Both Amy and Roger start with having certain things they want to do on this trip. Roger has a (ex)girlfriend he is trying to track down to figure out what happened with their relationship and Amy has a few places she wants to see for reasons involving her late father. This story goes on to tell both of their stories (although it is in Amy's point of view, Roger has a little story too). I loved how it had receipts from restaurants and hotels in the book as well, along with Amy's notebook for her trip. Cool little extras. The story, I thought was very well written and the characters were relate able. I kind of want to re-read it again already. Once I got through the first 50 pages or so the book just flew by for me. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys young adult books. Its a very good book about a girl finding her way through life and tragedy and learning how to talk through things with loved ones and even new people. So, yes a very, very good book!

30 Day Challenge: Day 3

I am doing this one a little sooner so I don't forget. Haha.

Day 3: What book makes you laugh out loud?
Quite a few books makes me laugh out loud but I think theres one series of books that does it to me a lot. And that is non other than

The Stephanie Plum series!

If you have never heard of them or read them you should check them out! Its a series following Stephanie Plum. The first book starts off with Stephanie getting a divorce and losing her job. She can't seem to find a job so she ends up black mailing her cousin to be a bounty hunter for him. And it all goes from there. The story follows Stephanie and her friends in a lot of hilarious antics. Stephanie is not a very good bounty hunter, but she does get her man! They are fast reads and good books to cheer you up. So seriously, check them out if you haven't yet!

30 Day Challenge: Day 2

So I am already messing up. Haha I just remembered this. I am 2 hours and 20 minutes late. Lol. Oh well, I haven't gone to sleep yet so it still counts for me. :D

Day 2: What is your least favorite book?
Okay so this is a hard question. There were a lot of books in high school that I was forced to read and I ended up hating them.
Such as:
The Lord of the Flies

And Animal Farm

But I don't know if it was the fact that I was forced to read them and at that point I just didn't want to or what. Since they are classics and some people really love them. Because there was one book that I was forced to read in school that I absolutely loved and thats To Kill A Mockingbird.

So I guess my answer is Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies, and maybe 1984. But I may give them another shot some day just to see if it had anything to do with being forced to read them. Since I don't like to be told what to read. Haha.

30 Day Challenge: Day 1

Hi guys! I have decided to try to do a 30 Day Challenge about books. I am hoping I will be able to do it every day but if not I will be as close as possible. So I will start right away.

Day 1: What is your favorite book?
This is a hard question for me. I have 2 favorite series.

Harry Potter

AND

The Hunger Games

Now of each series I have can't say I have an exact favorite but I do like some better than others. For Harry Potter I would have to say my "favorites" are Prisoner of Azkaban, and Deathly Hallows. If you were to ask me which one I preferred I don't know if I could answer that. PoA was my favorite until DH came along. They are so close. PoA introduced us to my favorite characters but DH was such an epic ending!

With The Hunger Games, I guess The Hunger Games is my favorite but I love them all. Of course I do, which is why its one of my favorite series. But I think I love The Hunger Games a little more than Catching Fire.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick Review

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Book 1 in the Hush, Hush series
Paperback, 391 pages
4/5 Stars

Description from Goodreads:

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

So where to start..this book did take me awhile to read but it wasn't because it wasn't good. I just had so much going on while trying to read this book. When I started it I flew through the first 100 pages or so and then I had to slow down because of life. But anyways, I really enjoyed this book. I am a big fan of young adult paranormal books.I have read a lot of reviews where people say how annoying Nora is, and she kinda is but I think its annoying in a sensible way. If that makes sense. Not annoying in a Bella way. (I did like Twilight but c'mon, Bella is annoying.) Nora's annoyingness seems to make sense for what shes going through to me. She lives at home, her father was killed awhile ago and her mom has a job that takes up all of her time and she even isn't home at all for days. So Nora just has the housekeeper around her most of the time. Then she meets Patch and thats when things start to get weird. She keeps seeing this person dressed in black following her everywhere, she is forced to work with Patch in class and he tends to show up everywhere she is too. So she wonders if there isn't something wrong with Patch. The book goes on to show Nora and Patch's relationship change from schoolmates to friends or frenemies in Nora's mind and on. Along the way Nora has her best friend Vee and two guys she met at a cafe, Elliot and Jules. There is a kind of twist at the end but for me it wasn't overly shocking. I kind of saw it coming. I was never 100% sure but I thought there was a possibility. This is a good book if you enjoy young adult paranormal with angels and fallen angels.

Waiting on Wednsday [3]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where she spotlights upcoming releases.

So I have been falling behind on this weekly memes lately. I've been busy at work and tired when I'm home. And I'm going to cheat some on this one. The book I'm waiting on this week is actually already out. But, I won't get it til Christmas. I couldn't afford it so my sister bought it for me and said I had to wait til then. So I'm trying to patiently wait..Ha! So the book is...

DIVERGENT!

Goodreads Description:
Beatrice "Tris" Prior has reached the fateful age of sixteen, the stage at which teenagers in Veronica Roth's dystopian Chicago must select which of five factions to join for life. Each faction represents a virtue: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. To the surprise of herself and her selfless Abnegation family, she chooses Dauntless, the path of courage. Her choice exposes her to the demanding, violent initiation rites of this group, but it also threatens to expose a personal secret that could place her in mortal danger. Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent trilogy launches with a captivating adventure about love and loyalty playing out under most extreme circumstances.

So many of you have probably already read this and think I'm crazy for having not read it yet, but really, I just read The Hunger Games this summer. And I haven't read any of the great books that are the "it" books with awesome reviews yet. I am behind. I wish I had like $500 for buying books so I could get them all. Haha. But anyways I am super excited to read this. I mean I have plenty of books to hold me over til then but I will probably start reading this right when I get it! :D

The First Official Hunger Games Trailer! :D

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I feel like such a fangirl but omg! I am soooooo excited! I absolutely love the trailer and think everyone is going to be PERFECT!!!! I was kinda sad that we didn't hear some o the famous lines but maybe on the next trailer or tv spots when they come out! I got teary when Katniss yells "I volunteer" after Prim is chosen and Prim is screaming and crying. (That gave me chills typing it.) And when Gale says "They just want a good show. Thats al they want." and Katniss says "Theres 24 of us Gale, and only 1 gets out" gave me goosebumps. And at the end when Katniss is lifted into the arena and theres the countdown before the kids take off...*sigh* I'm just speechless! Is it March yet?!

Know Me Better [2]

Know Me Better is a weekly meme hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer so you can get to know me better. If you want to join in you can post your answers or go to I Am A Reader, Not a Writer and join the linky list.

Heres this weeks questions:

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
My year supply of food, my family and a pile of books.

What is one book everyone should read?

The Bible is a good answer. That of course, and maybe The Help and To Kill a Mockingbird. And The Hunger Games for fun and intensity.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

I always say read minds. But then I don't know if I truly wanna know what every thinks. Maybe to be invisible when I want to. You can hear them talk about you but no all their thoughts. Haha

Harry Potter or Twilight?

Harry Potter. Its always been Harry Potter. I like(d) Twilight but never more than Harry Potter. Harry Potter is what got me into reading and I grew up with it.

Gum or Breath Mints?

Gum, I suppose.

Now it's your turn! Share an answer to one or more of these questions as a comment or post your answers on your blog and link up here!

Goodreads: Possessed by the demon of Promiscuity, immortal warrior Paris is irresistibly seductive-but his potent allure comes at a terrible price. Every night he must bed someone new, or weaken and die. And the woman he craves above all others is the one woman he’d thought was forever beyond his reach…until now.

My Bought  category is a lot smaller.
I did just recently figure out that you can get Kindle for your PC so I've gotten a lot of free books the last few days but I'm not going to name them all. I'll just show the one book I bought today and its a physical book.

And I just do my reviews as I'm done with the book so I have none to post here but my latest one is on Marked by P.C and Kristen Cast.

Marked by P.C and Kristen Cast Review

Marked by P.C Cast and Kristen Cast
Book 1 in the House of Night series
Hardcover, 306 pages
 4/5 stars.

Description (from Goodreads)
The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire -- that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

I was reading another book when I started this so I only read like the first chapter and then I stopped for about a week. But once I picked it back up and continued to read I really enjoyed it. The only reason I took so long to read it is because of life getting in the way. :) Although the beginning was a little slow, which usually happens with the first book in a series because everything has to be set up, the rest of the book was great! Once Zoey gets to school  things really pick up. We meet Zoey's new friends and her new enemies. This book is mostly about Zoey transitioning into her new life as a fledgling vampyre. But she is a little more special than the average fledgling.

I would say if you like young adult books and paranormal vampire stories, then give this book a shot. Its a nice quick read too (if you don't have a busy life like I did while reading it. :p)

This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interest as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make new friends!

Question of the Week: What book shelf would you ask Santa for?
I would love a bookshelf that is built into the wall. Well that is the wall. My uncle has something like this where all four walls are book shelves! :)

What about you?? What book shelf would you ask Santa for??

Friday Favorites [1]

This post was started by Satins Bookish Corner. This meme is to tell you about my favorite book characters each week! Anyone who wants to join in can leave a link on their page and they will add you to the list each week so every can hop on over and check out your Friday Favorite. :) You can also check out Vanes Mate The Bookaholic

So my favorite character this week is:

PEETA MELLARK

Since the movie will be out in a few months I will start with Peeta! :) He is just such a wonderful friend and loyal person. As much as he and Katniss go through, he is constantly there for her and trying to save her. Even when Katniss hurts him, he still does anything he can to save her. Brave, courageous, loyal, compassionate--AMAZING!!

Today's Question is something new, an activity. We want to see what you look like! Take a pic with you and your current read! Too shy? Boo! Just post a fun pic you want to share.

Okay so this is not my current read but I didn't want to take a picture right now. This is from this summer! I'll try to add a new picture later! :) And one with my face. Which I could do but it'll be non book related.

So this is obviously not book related but you can see my face! :)

Know Me Better [1]

Know Me Better is a weekly meme hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer so you can get to know me better. If you want to join in you can post your answers or go to I Am A Reader, Not a Writer and join the linky list.

Heres this weeks questions:

What's your favorite season/weather?
Spring. I love the warmer weather, and the blooming flowers and plants. Its just so pretty and the singing birds and the days start to get longer. :)

PC or Mac?
PC. My boyfriend is a computer guy so I hear lots about whats better and what sucks. And hes a PC man. :P

Favorite music?
I like a variety of music. Some bands/singers I like are Ingrid Michaelson, The Fray, Lifehouse, Daft Punk, Shonen Knife and Cobra Starship. Quite a variety.

Facebook or Twitter?
I use both but I'm on facebook way more.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you'd be embarrassed to admit?
I don't watch much t.v anymore but I have watched Jersey Shore a few times and I don't get the appeal. And I guess the book it Twilight. I still like the books but I am embarrassed at how much I liked them when I read them the first time. I was acting like a 13 year old girl at the age of 20. :\

Now it's your turn!
